Hey there!
I’m going to take a time-out from my typical writing to share with you the story of my beautiful friend Stephanie Beck, aka, StephBecky. A little background: I met Miss StephBecky when I was teaching classes and training clients in Las Vegas. Steph stood out because of her energy, her non-stop smiles, and the fact that she is absolutely the best group fitness instructor I’ve ever seen in action. She is passionate and her enthusiasm is contagious!
She recently embarked on a journey to prep for her first Bikini competition and was generous enough to blog her experience. Her writing is very honest and transparent and if you’ve ever thought about competing I feel like it’s something you could benefit from reading. Steph shows the good, the bad, and the ugly. As most of you know, I went through nearly the same experience as Stephanie did post-show, but on top of body image issues and food obsession, I also suffered from severe metabolic damage and adrenal fatigue which resulted in a weight gain of about 30 pounds.
You can go through her blog and read her entire experience, but she wrote a 3 part wrap-up series that is worth the time to read.

April 26, 2012 at 11:39 amAbsolutely! I think it's very important that we look at things from all perspectives. Now even though Stephanie had a tough time, there are plenty of girls that compete, love it, and don't have any problems. It's all very individual 🙂 Thanks for reading!

May 1, 2012 at 12:50 pmgreat post and thank you for sharing her story! There is very fine line when it comes to competing regarding the health and wellness of the human body. Bodies are incredible but they also do not like to be pushed past a certain point, this is when nasty, unhealthy things can happen. Everyone has a different journey when it comes to competing and it is SO interesting to hear different perspectives
